Plas Tan y Bwlch occupies a superb position overlooking the valley of the river Dwyryd in the heart of the National Park. No part of the Park is more than an hour’s drive away and some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain is within easy reach.
Built at the beginning of the C17, for many years, this country house was the Welsh home of the Oakeley family, once the owners of the world’s largest subterranean quarry. It is their inheritance that we enjoy today: carefully tended gardens, well-engineered steps and paths where native and exotic plants, young and old, live side by side.
After your walk in the gardens, why not round off your visit with tea and home-made cake in front of one of the most beautiful views in Snowdonia?
